(CNN)Boeing built its 737 MAX passenger jet without safeguards the US military required for a similar flight control system on a different Boeing-made plane, a source with knowledge of the MAX system told CNN. A Boeing software fix for the MAX will mean its flight control system will now function more like the military version of MCAS. It will now use data from two, rather than only one, angle of attack sensors, which is intended to make the plane less vulnerable to a single malfunctioning sensor. Washington (CNN)Federal Aviation Administration chief Stephen Dickson says his agency must be “humble” about areas for improvement after approving the Boeing 737 MAX, the plane models that crashed twice in less than six months killing 346 people. He spoke prior to visiting Boeing’s Seattle-area headquarters on Thursday where he operated a 737 MAX simulator. The agency said company management briefed him on their work to fix the plane’s systems.
